No One Seems to Care Anymore, a Message from our founder

Putting Washington DC on notice that MyOneVote.Com intends to educate the American people this one fact; that apathy kills democracies and due to our governments unethical behavior, Americans today have become truly apathetic. No one seems to care anymore, and the culprit (cause) is apathy. Only by ending the long term professional politicians stranglehold on our political system will Americans become involved in their government again. Healthy democracy needs the involvement of its people, apathetic people don't get involved. Where you find apathy, there you will find a nation that cannot function. It is a cycle those in Washington have created, their constant need to seek reelection, lavish lifestyles so far removed from ours, the governed are considered as a “lower tiered” group than those that govern us.

Harry Reid the senior Senator from Nevada and the Senate Majority Leader of the 111th Congress was reported to have said, he “did not like the smell of visitors in the US Capitol.” One Los Angeles Councilmen when being criticized about his plans for his office renovation, stated that the 700,000 dollars in question was “his”, what was the issue? Republican President Richard Nixon was guilty of putting his ego in front of the law, thinking he could fix a problem only due to his being above the rest of us. It is these very people whom we need to root out of office, not for their opinions or their political beliefs, but only their attitude of superiority. Recently Republican Governor Mark Stanford resigned for just this cause, thinking he was above the law. This is not a Republican or Democratic problem, it is found all throughout Washington DC. Do you commute home in a private 757? Simple fact, they all need to go!

When those that govern actually accept and sadly believe they are in fact special, or entitled, their time has come to step down, anything less actually harms America. I ask you this; who in Congress do you really truly and honestly respect? Congress lashes out at business men and women, citing special perks, high pay, ineffective leadership. But does Congress ever look in a mirror unless caught? No! There is a double standard between the governed and those that govern, and that is the problem. Only by voting out those long term professional politicians will American government ever truly represent the people. Those in power must identify and relate to those they govern in order to have fair government!

One true sign of a healthy government is to witness the way in which those that govern act towards the people they govern. If the actions of service comes before self, and if dong what is right is more important than the polling numbers they live by, only there you will find good and fair government. It is the constant need, this cycle of perpetual money grabbing, lavish and unethical, uncaring and unfair government we intend to end! That is our only purpose, to truly give America back to Americans! When President John F Kennedy stated we should be more concerned about giving to our nation, not taking from her, can that be found today? At some point we need to care for America, and as President Kennedy so profoundly implied, America cannot always take care of us. We the people need to also look in the mirror as we rid Washington of professional politicians!

The diversity of America and its people is our strength and should not be the divisive wedge professional politicians have crammed upon us. If America is ever to start making the significant and heartfelt changes greatly needed today, we must stop hating each others diverse thoughts, stop name calling, stop the cycle of claiming anyone thinking differently from us is somehow stupid or immoral. Apathy is the fuel that feeds fear, and fear is the single largest cause of lashing out against others who do not share our own beliefs. Is that not the real meaning of the word prejudice? True leadership will end this cycle, the simple fact is; we are where we are today because we lack real leadership. Americas problems today rise from the simple fact we lack leadership and we distain our own leaders and their stagnant ways. Apathy is the major cause of the problems we face today. When was the last time you were truly excited about an election? When was the last time you truly witnessed passion of our elected? Does the tail wag the dog, or the dog wag its tale? It is time we vote them all out of office.

But sadly, both sides of the isle, Republican and Democrats greatest tool to keep themselves in office is to create the need for their service. Americans must understand, politically created crisis is the tool of the professional politician, who then can justify their existence in Washington. As we near the elections, (this happens every election cycle) there will be a crisis. When President Ronald Reagans poll numbers were down, we invaded a small island nation, Grenada. Wait and see, China bashing will begin soon, or some other crisis. Maybe even Congressional ethics (an oxymoron) will be addressed, there will be something created to ensure that you the voter believe change, even though needed, now is not the time to vote our our elected officials.

What good parent allows their young child to govern themselves? What boss allows their employees to set their pay, benefits and own rules for governance? Then why do we allow Congress? The time has come, the American Voter Revolution of 2010 is here, regardless of political party, vote out ever incumbent and Americans will witness true and representative government once again.

I ask that you join with us, agree or not, open and honest communication is paramount to our nations future. When 95% of college freshmen cannot tell you who their Congress representative is, and their 2 Senators, we have a problem. Apathy truly is the death of any democracy, apathy allows the government we have today. It is so true, we do have the government we deserve, the one we have today. We the People need to take this action, for Congress cannot nor will not govern themselves. Be a part of the greatest voter rebellion this nation has ever seen, one we so desperately need today!

Thank You

Peter H Williams
